1) What is Backup ?

A backup is a copy of the data that is there on the computer. Backups are of various types, some popular types of backups are :-

• Windows Backup
• Disk Backup
• Partition backup

2) What is Windows Backup ?

Windows backup is the copy of windows that is installed on the computer. This backup contains all the data that is stored in your windows Operating System.

3) What is Disk Backup ?

Disk backup is the copy of of your Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD). This backup contains all the data that is stored on your HDD or SSD.

3) What is Partition Backup ?

Partition backup is the copy of your selected partition of your Hard Disk Drive (HDD) or Solid State Drive (SSD). This backup contains all the data that is there on your selected partition.

4) Why to have Backup ?

We should take backup to keep the data safe and useable incase our operating system gets corrupted or the machine is showing any boot error.

5) How to have Backup ?

We can take backup by a software named Macrium Reflect 7. First, we have to download and install this software. Macrium Reflect is a software which is used to take backup like Windows Backup, Disk Backup, Partition Backup, etc.

To take windows backup open the macrium reflect software and then follow the following steps. 

• Click on backup tab.

• Click on Backup Windows.
• Select the folder or the drive in which you wan't to save the backup.
• Suggestion : Don't save your backup on your desktop, downloads folder, C: drive, etc. save it in a heavy storage or the hard drive which is there on your computer or you can can save it on your external hard disk.
• Click on three dots and then browse your drive.
• Click on Finish button.
• A popup window can open, Click on OK

• Your Backup will start, this can take 30mins to 60mins.

These were the steps to take Backup.

6) How to use this Backup ?

Follow the following steps to use the backup.

• Click on Other Tasks.

• Click on Create Rescue Media. 

You will see three options

Windows Boot Menu - This option will install an operating system on dual boot on your computer so that if our windows corrupts in future then we can switch to that operating system and can do the recovery.

CD/DVD Burner - This option requires a CD or DVD. When you will insert your CD or DVD then you will have to click on this option and this will make your CD or DVD bootable for that operating system.

ISO File - This option will create an ISO file on your selected destination and then you will have to boot this ISO file in a pendrive.

• There are three steps to make a pendrive bootable, follow the third step to make a pendrive bootable for this operating system.
• You will see a browse button in the bottom.
• Click on build. It will start creating the ISO File.

6) How to recover system by using this backup ?

To recover your system follow the following steps.

• Boot your computer from your USB Drive or your pendrive
• It will load an operating system which is made by Macrium Reflect.
• This Operating System will automatically select your backup file but if not you can select it manually by clicking on "Browse for an image file" and then you can browse your image file and select it.
• After you have selected your image file you have to click on "Restore Image".
• Click on next and then click on Finish.
• A warning message will come and there will be a check box, checkmark that checkbox and click on continue.
• Some process will start and this OS will start your Windows recovery.
• After the recovery is done click on "Fix windows boot problems".
• It will automatically detect your Windows Operating System if not you can detect it manually by clicking on Search button.
• After it has detected your Operating System click on Next and click on Finish.

Some process will start for 20secs to 30secs.

• After the process is completed it will ask you to restart your computer.
• Click on Restart and then remove the installation medium (Pendrive or the DVD).
